Tuesday Morning Prayer Group
O God, hear the prayer of thy servant.... Daniel 9:17

PRAYER:  The act of communication with
a deity -- especially as a petition or in
adoration or contrition or thanksgiving.

The members of the group want you to know:

"We feel thanksgiving for the many of you that are sending your prayer requests to our group.
We feel humble that God has been able to use us."

The Power of Prayer.... This unique group, the Tuesday Morning Prayer Group, of about 10 women in our church can tell you all about it. For 20 years, they have been meeting on a weekly basis for devotional time and to offer up prayer concerns to God.

They offer praise for prayers answered. They pray for those who are sick or in the hospital. They pray for our church, our church staff, and outreaches like Early Bread. They pray for our nation, our military, and for our shut-ins. They pray for salvation.

Each year, they review the list of people and things they have prayed for to see the Blessings of God. The lists are then burned and the ashes are used in services. The ladies take no personal credit. What they do, they do to the Glory of God.

Members of this group meet in the AEC building at 7:15am for Prayer concerns followed by a short Devotional and coffee.

They welcome your prayer requests for family, friends, church, our community, our nation and our world. You are also invited to come join the group, to be a part of the next 20 years, and watch how God answers prayers! Questions? Call the church office 910-791-4092 or contact us.

Upper Room Prayer Ministry
"And he will show you a large, furnished upper room; prepare it there."
 – Luke 22:12

So, during the Sunday service it is announced that the prayer request forms can be found in the pew pocket. You fill out the form and place it in the offering plate. Do you know what happens to it next or how the Prayer Room -- sign on the door of the Upper RoomUpper Room Prayer Ministry came to be?

Located in Room 20 at the top of the stairs near the balcony, what was once a junk-filled closet serves at a place for reflection, contemplation, and prayer known as the Upper Room. An altar was relocated from elsewhere in the church; a kneeling bench was made by a congregation member; the curtain which now hangs behind the altar was sewn . A divinely inspired idea offered by former pastor’s wife, Phyllis Hamm, became a reality.

the altar in the Upper RoomYou may have concerns or praise for yourself, your family, a friend, your country, your church. Once it is placed in the offering plate, it is delivered to the volunteers who are already in prayer in the Upper Room. There are volunteers in the Upper Room during both church services and during the Sunday School hour. The people who volunteer – sometimes one person, sometimes a husband and wife – are deeply committed to this ministry. Prayer requests remain on the altar and on the prayer list for a month – each week receiving special attention. At the end of the year, prayer requests are burned and then placed in a special urn until they can be reverently scattered on the church grounds.

The Upper Room is open any time the church building is open for prayer and personal reflection; and at other times – by special request – arrangements can be made for the room to be open.

Occasionally volunteers are needed for this Sunday morning ministry. If you are interested in participating in this vital activity, you can contact the church office, 910-791-4092, or Contact Us and let them know.
