United Methodist Men – umMen
Don’t hide your light! Let it shine for all; let your good deeds glow
for all to see, so that they will praise your heavenly Father.
- Matthew 5:15-16
Are oyster roasts, fish fries, and Valentine Banquets what you think
of when you think of umMen? These are great times of fun and
fellowship, but there's so much more to this group than that.
They have great speakers at their monthly supper meetings -- some
promote a cause, some are educational or inspirational, and some are
just plain fun. Recent speakers have been from United Methodist
Children's homes, Association for Marriage Enrichment, District umMen,
Wilmington Interfaith Hospitality Network, and WMUMC -- our own retired
pastor, Bill Spencer.
This group is active in supporting several outreach programs such
as Methodist Children's Home and Wilmington Interfaith Network.
Additionally, Wesley Memorial's umMen take a turn once every 3 months
cooking and overnight-chaperoning for guests at First Baptist Center's
homeless shelter.
umMen are also working to promote Every Man Shares -- in
Evangelism, Mission & Spiritual Life -- which strives to involve all
umMen as Friends to each other, Followers of God, and Fishermen for
Christ.
Check it Out ! This group is open to ALL men of Wesley Memorial --
church member or not -- no matter how young or old. umMen supper
meetings are held every 2nd Monday (September - May) at 6:30pm in the
Activity Center. During the summer meetings are held jointly with other
local Methodist churches.

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN – umWomen
Celebrating our 135th Anniversary

United Methodist Women is a community of women whose purpose is to
know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus
Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to
expand concepts of mission through participation in the global
ministries of the church.
Membership is open to any woman who indicates her desire to
belong and to participate in the outreach mission of the church
through the UMW organization. Once this decision has been made, the new
member chooses the circle group which best fits her personal needs and
schedule. The circles meet once a month, and every other month
the umW meets as a group. By participating in the local circles, as well
as actively supporting the total group activities, women can play a
major role in the ministry of our church.
You are invited to come to the Executive Board Meetings the first
Tuesday of each month at 9:30 am. At the General Meetings –
which you are also invited to attend – we usually learn about the
various missions. The General Meetings are scheduled for the third
Tuesday of every other month, beginning in January, rotating between
morning and evening meetings.

Calling ALL Crafters
Avid crafters know the joy that comes from the creative process. And any
crafter knows that they can give away or store just so many projects.
You can share your gift of crafting, painting, needle working, jewelry
making, and woodworking in spirit of fun Christian fellowship and know
that you are helping the various ministries and missions supported by
the UMW. Join the Monday Morning Crafters. The sale of items made
by this group at the Fall Bazaar, along with money collected from other
money-making ventures, allows the UMW to contribute almost $20,000
annually to local and global missions. Joyce, our Bazaar Queen, invites
anyone to join this great, fun-loving group.
